According to the latest Verisign Domain Name Industry Brief there are now approximately 342.4 million domain name registrations across all top-level domains (TLDs), which is an increase of approximately 2.6 million domain name registrations.
A special working group charged with coming up with changes to the Whois service that bring it in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) published its initial report on 21 November 2018 and opened it up for public comment. The Initial Report responds to the call to answer a set of questions and determine if the Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data should become a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)-compliant ICANN Consensus Policy as is, or one with modifications.

ICANN’s next meeting will be held in Barcelona from 20 – 25 October. Key highlights of the agenda include the working sessions of the Policy Development Processes dealing with issues around future releases of new gTLDs and rights protection mechanisms.
According to the latest data from Verisign’s domain name industry brief the second quarter of 2018 saw the number of registered domains across all top-level domains (TLDs), rise to 339.8 million, an increase of approximately 6m domain name registrations, or 1.8%, compared to the first quarter of 2018.
