Mandatory Identification of .RU/.рф/.SU domain registrants from 1 September 2026

From 1 September 2026, mandatory identification of registrants in the .RU, .рф, and .SU zones will be introduced in Russia via the Gosuslugi (ESIA) portal. This requirement is set by Federal Law No. 569-FZ dated December 29, 2025.

Registrations and renewals will not be possible until the registrant has completed the mandatory identification using a verified Gosuslugi account.

• This requirement applies to both NEW and EXISTING registrants
• This requirement applies for Russian entities and non-Russian entities
• Mandatory for individuals and companies
• Applies to domains registered in .RU/.рф/.SU TLDs

Identification verification will need to be completed before 1 September 2026 and if not done it will not be possible to:

• register new domains
• renew existing domains
• modify DNS servers
• change the registrant

Therefore, once a domain has expired it will enter a “pending renewal” status and afterwards it will become available for re-registration.
