The registry operator for the .BD TLD, Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited – BTCL, has recently announced the launch of registration directly under the top level .BD; until now it was only possible to register under .COM.BD.
There is currently a Sunrise Period running until 19 January 2026 only for trademark holders and owners of an existing .COM.BD domain.
For foreign applicants, an international registered trademark is acceptable.
For local applicants, a locally registered Bangladeshi trademark is required.
Pending trademark applications are not permitted – the trademark must be fully registered at the time of application.
Existing .COM.BD domain holders are eligible to register the corresponding top level .BD domain names during the Sunrise Period.
Both ASCII and IDN domain names are supported. IDN registrations are limited to Bangla (Bengali) language characters only.
