ICANN 64 Kobe: What’s coming up at the Community Forum

ICANN’s 2019 Community Forum will be held in Kobe from 9 – 14 March.

This meeting is likely to be dominated by questions on the next steps ICANN will be taking following the likely adoption by the GNSO Council of the EPDP Final Report recommendations on domain name registration data, expected on 4 March 2019. Working sessions for the Subsequent Procedures and Rights Protection Mechanisms working groups are also reliably included in the schedule.

Subject areas which we think will be of most interest and relevance are:

  • New gTLD Subsequent Procedures (SubPro) PDP and Future New gTLD Issues
  • Work Track 5 and Geographic Names at the Top Level
  • GDPR, WHOIS and the EPDP
  • Review of all Rights Protection Mechanisms in all TLDs PDP (RPMs PDP)
  • ICANN Board Session on Governance
  • Registry Stakeholder Group Meetings, including:
    • Compliance Update and GDD Roundtable
    • RySG Comments Workshop
    • RySG Spec 11 change request process
    • Other RySG and related sessions of interest
  • Universal Acceptance and IDNs
  • Combatting DNS Abuse

As usual, the Valideus team will be attending the meeting to ensure we cover the sessions for our clients.  If you’re around and want to catch up – do let us know experts@valideus.com
