Donuts and Rightside DPML Update
You may recall that Donuts registry successfully completed the acquisition of Rightside registry in July and that we advised you that your Donuts DPML blocks now include all 40 previously-owned Rightside TLDs (see here).
Donuts has now provided an update on the DPML systems merger, scheduled for Quarter 2, 2018, and outlined the four scenarios that apply to existing DPML customers, based on whether they have a Donuts DPML, a Rightside DPML or both:
1. Holders of a Donuts DPML and DPML Plus:
Coverage has already been given for the 40 Rightside TLDs (see here) at no additional cost. Renewals for the entire 238 covered TLDs will remain at the same price.
2. Holders of a Rightside DPML and Donuts legacy DPML will continue to be covered as follows:
Donuts will honour the later expiration date, between the Donuts and Rightside blocks
Rightside blocks will maintain premium coverage in the 40 Rightside TLDs, but only until the expiration date of the Rightside DPML block
Variants that exist in Rightside’s environment will be migrated as distinct legacy DPML registrations across the Donuts TLDs
Variants will maintain premium coverage in the 40 Rightside TLDs, but only until the expiration date of the Rightside DPML
Donuts TLDs included in the Donuts legacy DPML block remain under Donuts DPML terms and will not include premium coverage
DPML purchased via two separate registrars will remain with the registrar that facilitated the Donuts block
3. Holders of a Rightside and Donuts DPML Plus block will be covered as follows:
Donuts will honour the later expiration date between the Donuts DPML Plus and Rightside blocks
Variants that exist in Rightside’s environment will be migrated to a variant of the Donuts Plus block and include premium coverage under all 238 TLDs
DPML blocks purchased via two separate registrars will remain with the registrar that facilitated the Donuts block
4. Holders of Rightside DPML only:
Will be honoured on the 40 Rightside TLDs until the Rightside block’s expiration date
Rightside DPML cannot be renewed, so you may wish to consider purchasing a Donuts DPML to cover all 238 TLDs
If your Rightside DPML block is set to expire in 2017, your Client Manager will be reaching out to you to discuss potential concerns over the eventual loss of premium coverage on Rightside TLDs.
.LONDON - Pricing promotion on new registrations
Registry operator Dot London Domains Limited has announced that it is running a pricing promotion on new domain registrations until 31 March 2018, where new standard .LONDON registrations (including multi-year registrations) will have a reduced price. Renewals will remain at the standard rate.
Uniregistry - Release of 2-letter and premium domains
Registry operator Uniregistry has announced that it is to release its remaining two-letter domain names across its TLDs on 30 October 2017 (00:00 UTC).
Approximately 4,100 names will have premium pricing, whilst those under the TLDs .JUEGOS, .HOSTING, .CARS, .CAR and .AUTO will have standard pricing. Domains will not be released under .COUNTRY.
The registry will also move over 500,000 names across all TLDs (except .COUNTRY), including those with four or more characters and names with any dashes, from premium to standard pricing.
