New ccTLD Update – Serbia – launch of IDNs

Serbia – launch of IDNs

The Register of National Internet Domain Names of Serbia (RNIDS), the registry for .rs domains, has launched an Initial Registration Period (‘IRP’) for IDNs.

The IRP runs until noon CET (UTC +1) on 5 March 2019. During this period, the owner of a domain name under .rs can register the IDN equivalent. For example, the owner of cevapcic.rs will be able to register ćevapčić.rs.

From 5 March 2019 at noon, IDNs will be registered on a first come, first served basis.

The characters include Latin letters with diacritics, such as č, ć, š, ž and đ, and an additional 36 characters from the Albanian, Bosnian, Croatian, Czech, German, Hungarian, Montenegrin, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Slovene and Vlach languages.

This table provides the equivalent characters that can be used for registration

Registration fees will be the same as the extensions .rs, .co.rs, .org.rs.
